Astronomers may have just detected their first case of a neutron star being devoured by a black hole. If confirmed, the long predicted but never before seen event on April 26 would be history making.

Astronomers have identified a massive collision between our Milky Way galaxy and a neighbouring satellite galaxy that triggered a sudden burst of new star formation which increased the number of stars in our galactic disk by more than fifty percent.

A new study suggests that instead of exploding out evenly in all directions as originally thought -- supernovae generated by the death of the universe’s first stars more likely exploded in elongated jets of energy and plasma.

*New Zealand’s Electron rocket flies again

New Zealand’s Rocket Lab has successfully launched another Electron rocket placing three satellites into orbit for the United States Air Force. The launch from the North Island’s Mahia Peninsula was the second this year for the company – coming just five weeks after the company’s last flight.
