A report claims the progenitor stars of core collapse or Type II supernovae – display significant instability in the final Earth year leading up to their cataclysmic destruction. *More tantalizing hints of possible past life on Mars Scientists re-examining minerals originally studied years ago by NASA’s Mars rover Spirit, now believe they could represent a tantalizing possible biological marker for past life on the red planet. The minerals – known as opaline silica deposits – were examined by the six wheeled golf cart sized robotic rover in 2007 -- near a circular geological feature called Home Plate in the Inner Basin of the Columbia Hills region in the red planet’s Gusev Crater. *Giant cold spot discovered on Jupiter Astronomers have discovered a great cold spot on Jupiter. The newly found feature is comparable in size to Jupiter’s famous great red spot which dominates the Jovian southern hemisphere. A report claims the phenomenon, may have existed for thousands of years. *Space weather on Uranus Scientists has discovered surprisingly strong space weather activity on the distant planet Uranus. Researchers combined two new images of the ice giant taken by NASA’s Earth orbiting Hubble Space Telescope with earlier observations by NASA’s Voyager 2 spacecraft taken back in 1986. *Expedition 50 crew return to Earth Three members of the expedition 50 crew aboard the International Space Station Have returned safely to Earth after more than 173 days in orbit. Their Soyuz MS-02 capsule landed with a bumpy touchdown and roll on the cold Kazakhstan Steppe 52 minutes after undertaking their de-orbit burn 400 kilometres above the planet.
